Unli Seafood Paluto at Isla Sugbu Seafood City

The seafood shopping and paluto experience joint together in an unlimited foodie experience. This famous unli paluto restaurant famous in Cebu is now accessible to foodies of Metro Manila.
In less than P1,500, each guest will have a chance to pick amongst the basic seafood and meats and ask their cooks to prepare it. The dish will be upon the request of the guests. They also have premium choices where you can buy per gram.

I’m privileged to be invited on their store opening at Venice Grand Canal. The whole experience was superb! Quiet frankly I initially don’t think the price is worthy. But as the night goes by and as I experience the unlimited part, the impression turned differently.

For starters, this fish crackers was served while the

Bali Indonesia Day 1 : Mark & Gab

We got a chance to book (not so) cheap 2-way flight to Bali, Indonesia last September 07, 2018 as early celebration of Gab’s  birthday. We booked our hotel online worth P8,000 for a deluxe room for 4 nights stay. The room is good enough for our stay as we planned that most of the time we will be out exploring the beauty of this island.

Unfortunately, upon arrival the reserved room for us was given to a walk in guest. Generous enough, Grand Ina Bali Resort gave us suite type room which If may say, is too huge for a guest of 2.  But left with no choice we took the room and enjoyed the privilege.

The hotel where we are staying I must say is not ideal for tourists who want to be always out because the hotel pretty much provides everything a guest would need. Spa, restaurant, bar, pool, beach front and other amenities.

So much more about the hotel, here are few things I love upon arrival to Bali.

Just like Philippines, Bali’s has this warmth welcome to all their tourists.

Imays

Bacolod can be your town of sweet little treats with their wide array of restaurants or pasalubong centers that offers desserts and other indulgence. However, it can also be a place for you to have a really good seafood treats.

Imay’s for one, is a very nice restaurant that offers local and tasteful seafood dishes. The alfresco sits and its overall ambience would surely complete the beach away from beach experience, via the food of course.
The restaurant’s price range is quite reasonable for a family dine out whenever there’s a celebration. It’s not a good place for convenience eating with friends as serving time can be a bit longer.
Lets start the drill with some appetizers like vegetable tempura. The crisp of the breading perfectly matches its tartar garlic mayo dip. We had crispy kankong and eggplant tempura.
This bulanglang soup will surely kick off your appetite. Level up the usual with its halaan ingredient.
I wished that the eggplant was  grilled and has that smokey flavor , but it doesn’t have that kick.
Butter garlic shrimp is so tasty but limited 😀
These guys are for the bucks. Grilled tuna belly showcased the freshness of their seafood meals.
This is the real deal. Vegetables with crab meat. The oh so real crab meat is truly unforgettable.
Adobong baby squid is also something that you need to try.
Seafood ala pobre has that overpowering buttery gravy taste which I personally don’t like.

Black Scoop Cafe

When you think of milk tea, the word milk immediately describe the its liquid form. This cafe in Maginhawa Quezon city definitely broke that unwritten rule. They bind the liquid milk tea and made it into sundae for and topped it with the black pearls. Hippie as it may sound as sundae ice cream is also becoming fad these days but in yougurt form.

Adding the huge outer box to hold the cup of sundae to make the milk tea experience one of a kind. They made it for branding of course. They have several toppings and add ons but the base is the same.

The blend of sundae that melts in your mouth and gives you that milk tea madness then this is it. I suggest that you stick to this order and do not over do your toppings to maintain that bubble tea taste.

Cozy ambience of the cafe added plus points to it specially to those who want to have dessert moments after a meal.

Soy Banquet Experience in China

Lee Kum Kee, one of the largest producer of naturally fermented soy sauce in the World brought their business partners in Xin Hui China to visit their top of the line plant.

Our trip to China is very quick and straight forward. We were not able to have side trips and tour but the best part of it really is the food experience. It was sponsored by a leader brand of sauces and condiments anyways.

This trip made me appreciate the process , facility and beauty of soy sauce making. Knowing that the Chinese culture are the ones who introduce usage of soy sauce to ours. Well for one, I have appreciated that despite the world is going against China products because of some sub standard quality issue, there is Lee Kum Kee who’s principle is to provide high standard quality product.

So much more on Lee Kum Kee as producers of Premium soy sauce. Here is the treat we had in a baquet restaurant where everything served has soy sauce of different brewing type, color, and taste profiles.

This peking duck is soy has been served in almost all restaurants we’ve been.

Steamed fish is so good. Some say that you must only you high quality naturally brewed soy sauce as pour over to an expensive type of fish because it would be waste to us low grade ones. It will ruin the main protein— fish.

This usually beef dish is so simple and balances the flavors.

This famous eggplant dish has also been served to all of meals we had the entire trip.

The good caramel amber color of the soy gave those shrimp an appetizing look and taste.

The pansit has been leveled up because of the soy.

Us after the whole banquet.

Thank you.

Maraming pagkakataong hinahanap

A Plateful Of Learning

The plate is full and he can no longer handle it.
He kept on putting dishes he thought he needed
Garnish all the greens and put color on it
Throwing everything into it until the plate bleeds.

He took his time fixing the scallions and parsley.
Trying to differentiate the greens from greens
Sprinkling on top of a bed of lettuce
The colors and textures he begun to lose.

The plate is full but focused on the garnish
And each of his bite seems like to tarnish
He then lost his appetite on the main dish
Until he wanted to leave everything in a bliss

The plate is full and he wants to throw it away
Just leave nothing but a tomato in a tray
Now his eyes are drooling like a fool
Staring nowhere while his plate is full.

Ganitong Ganito

Ganitong ganito rin noon
Tanging naiba lang ay ang panahon
Dati’y parang di ko makayanan
Ngayo’y parang isa nalang hanging dumaan

Mama’s 2 Minutes Grocery Experience

So I decided to bring my mom to a 2 minutes grocery shopping experience after her watching the same concept in a morning show Umagang Kay Ganda.

Her laughter is countless while watching the said segment. She even have comments on how the contestant should do her picks. However, doing it by herself seems to be a different story. She tends to get those items she can also reseller on our store. Time limit and the excitement tends to give her panic. She’s expecting to pick at least ten thousand worth but ended up with little on her cart.

Things I learned about this experience:

Being unplanned and hurry about things that make us so excited tends to give a little in return. Slow down and make good choices so that we can reap better seeds... See, even little things like this could give us life learning.

Gyu-Kaku Smokeless Grill Experience

The new east wing of Shangri-la Mall in Edsa features many new restaurant concepts every foodie must visit.
One restaurant, I tried is Gyu Kaku. A premium Japanese restaurant franchise offering grill barbeque and some special Asian favorites.

As starters we had this Kimchi Jiggae Korean soup with slices of pork and fresh silken tofu.
Bibimbop as carbo for  this feast.
Grilling Feast started with some ox tongue... Yes! Lengua is superb when grilled. Soft and tender and literally feels like melting in your mouth.

Some wagyu are best to try it here. Unlike most of Korean restaurants, that uses cast grilller, their smokeless charcoal grill makes the taste just so perfect.  The meat are also carefully selected with good layers of fat making each bite moist and tasty.
it has been 3 years before I was able to post this :P
